Most of us will agree we have experienced healthy lifestyles growing up as a youth, and we can recall many exciting and memorable times. However, the youth of today are not experiencing the same wonderful life.

Federal Government statistics shows more than 877,700 young people ages 10 to 24 were injured from violent acts. In Washington State 70.8 % of deaths are amongst person’s ages 10-24 years resulting from motor vehicle crashes, homicide, suicide, and other unintentional injuries.

Studies show the behaviors that contribute to placing youth at risk for unhealthy lifestyles, are due mostly to alcohol, and drug abuse. There is also a high level of depression among youth due to family dysfunctions, boredom, which often leads youth to substance abuse.

YOUTH WALK- is a ministry purposely designed to reach the youth in our communities.

Our goal is to hold a ten week program for youth from all socio-economic and cultural backgrounds by building self esteem, exposing teens to new opportunities, preparing them for whatever challenges lie ahead, and teaching them to make healthy choices, by embracing healthy lifestyles.

A couple of weeks ago American Idol (musical competition show) had a program entitled American Idol Gives back. The TV show has recognized the need to give back, and all over the world there are Corporations, organizations, and various groups are giving back to their communities. The purpose of Youth Walk is to do the same.Our tomorrow’s leaders are today’s youth.

We need your help!

Our plan for making this vision a reality will be as follows:

1. Organized after school activities

2. Academic enrichment

3. Youth leadership training

4. Entrepreneur development

5. Mentoring Programs

6. Community involvement programs

7. Summer camps and mission trips

Here is what Jesus said about the way others will know who we are.

John 13: 34A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35-By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. As I watched the TV show American Idol gives back, I realized once again the mission God has called us to do, which is to produce his love in our communities.

As you can see Christ gave us his commandments, all we need to do is to yield ourselves in order to be used by him through our act of love. We have a great deal to accomplish, and we need your help to make this dream a reality.
